5: Threshold & Guiding Questions

Jane edited this page Mar 27, 2015 · 2 revisions

These threshold and guiding questions help to determine what platforms to work with and how to begin outreach to these platforms.

Part one: About the Platform

  1. Does the platform share content publicly?
  2. Does the platform allow or want to allow content to move on and/or off the platform?
  3. How else do CC's goals align or overlap with the platform’s?
  4. What stage is the platform at in their CC implementation?
  5. If applicable, why did they start using CC or why do they still use CC?
  6. Is there an opportunity for CC to make money with the platform?
  7. How many CC-licensed objects does the platform currently host?
  8. What else do we need to know or find out?

Part two: About the Users

  1. Who are their users? What do they care about or want?
  2. How do they currently interact with CC or the commons?
  3. How might they better interact with CC or the commons?
  4. What does an educational opportunity for users look like?
  5. How can users be better connected to each other?
  6. How can users be turned into advocates for CC/commons?
  7. Is there a way to mobilize users through $ or other economic motivations?
  8. How might we increase interaction between this platform’s users and users of other platforms?

Part three: Outreach strategy

  1. What are one or two things we want to do with the platform, given our Theory of Change and the platform’s goals?
  2. What is the value proposition for the platform? Consider:
  3. Value for the users
  4. Value for the platform (product team, developer community if applicable)
  5. Who are the right people for us to approach there to get the ball rolling?
  6. What does an ideal tech/design implementation look like?
  7. What licenses/PD tools do we want them to enable?
