How to use custom package versions from a local directory to get the latest GCC or glibc without modifying the source in crosstool-NG? #1024

Is there a config that allows me for example to point to a local directory, and try to use that instead of one of the default packages?

So I can get the latest GCC or glibc from git source and make a toolchain that uses them.

Like LIBFOO_SITE + LIBFOO_SITE_METHOD=local in Buildroot.

I know compilation may fail, but I want to give it a try with the configs for the latest package.

I saw #869 but not sure how to use it.

If I modify the croostool-NG source, I'm pretty sure I'll manage, but it would be cooler to do it with configs only.

OK, EXPERIMENTAL makes <pkg>_SRC_CUSTOM visible for a bunch of packages, including glibc and GCC.

I'm going to try out just to confirm, and then close this.
