Hi,

I am trying to use cola and currently I have been looking at the code and learn. It would be really helpful to give some introduction/overview on some of the framework related terms to get started.

Thank you in advance,

Thanks for suffering through the code, Ilaya!

The sudden growth of interest in cola.js is awesome, but caught us off guard. An introduction shouldn't take too long, so I think we should do it asap. Thanks for creating this issue so we can track it.

Btw, we're always looking for help from smart folks like yourself. If you feel you can contribute back in any way, please let us know!

Regards,

-- John

What are your plans for cola at this point? I heard somewhere there is a rewrite in the works? How is that progressing? Would trying to go through the code in this repo at this point be a waste? I'm rather keen to try it out for my data-binding, was hoping for some more documentation but I wouldn't mind digging into the code if it's not going to be replaced in a month or so. Somehow Cola feels a bit left behind compared to the rest of this awesome package.

Hey @skiadas, we've been focused on a lot of other things recently (cujojs.com, know.cujojs.com, JSConf, etc.). Just this week we started doing some planning on where we want to take cola. Next week, we'll likely be doing some experiments, proofs-of-concept, etc. After that, I think we'll be able to set a direction. Documentation definitely needs to be a part of that plan :)

That's very good to hear, I'm looking forward to chipping in any way I can! Are you currently envisioning a more or less complete rewrite, or will decent chunks of the existing code likely remain broadly in place? I'm trying to decide if it would be currently worth my while to start digging through the code, or if I should focus my attention on something else until the new cola starts taking shape.

As promised, we did a major deep dive last week on the future of cola, with the intent of setting the direction. We prototyped 2 different approaches, and found that one of them seems to have a lot of potential (as @unscriptable said: "It feels like the future"). I'm finishing up a branch of the cujoJS TodoMVC impl that uses some of the new ideas. This week will likely be working out more details and logistics of moving to the new approach.

We'll post here as things move forward.

Thanks, @skiadas. We have a few pieces scattered about right now. After we get them pulled together into one spot (hopefully by week's end), it'd be cool to have someone else try it out. I'll ping you :)

Any chance to put our hands on some sample code that could make understaning how cola is intended to be used? It would be nice and maybe a chance to start with some introduction / draft documentation. :)

I'll second that @ev45ive . I really wish there was some kind of "Hello world" at least
