This implementation of the Parks-McClellan algorithm is derived from https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/2904902 and its supporting reference source code https://github.com/sfilip/firpm. @ev-br and I have been in contact with the original author of the paper, who is answering any question that may arise.
