The section "Using curl/Proxies/Captive portals" begins with the following note:

(these are not proxies but in the way)

But "in the way" means "blocking the path, literally or figuratively", and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the intention.

"... in a way" would be better, but I think the following note would be clearer and almost as short:

(these are not proxies but the idea is similar)

I meant "in the way" as in they're blocking the network path from you to the server you want to access. Should I rather make it "on path" ?

I would simply add a few words to make the sentence clearer:

These are not proxies, but they do get in the way.

Or like this:

These are not proxies, but they're still blocking network access.
