From a non-technical perspective - we discussed trying to make the terms around discounts a little more general and avoid baking in any specific current product behaviour into the terms (i.e. we may not always offer referrals, the time periods could vary from 3 months - though the app would always state this, may not always be two-way, etc.) and I also was keen to add in a statement that no discount would ever last more than 12 months from the time of application to the account, just in case we'd forget to state when applying manually

From a technical perspective - just need to normalise any spacing/non-ASCII chars, and probably update the date in the version bit

So we could say:

"You can refer a friend for a discount off their first product - you can get a discount too.

Referrals are intended for people you know. So please don't post your referral code publicly. We might limit how many people can redeem your code, and change your code, if we find it posted publicly.

The expiry date of any discount will depend on the promotion you’re looking to benefit from. But no discount will last for more than 12 months from the date of redemption. If you have any questions, including when the deadlines are, please chat to us and we’ll help."

@robdaviescuvva I'd avoid stating definitively that referring for a discount is an option - as it isn't necessarily always going to be. We could theoretically decide not to have a referral scheme at all, or offer something different from a discount. So perhaps could just remove the first line

Sure thing @billinghamj. Is that something for you or for me? I need some guidance on how to use GitHub properly (sorry!)
