Hi, this is not an actual issue, but a thing I noticed while looking for suitable software to manage my pile of pictures that as accumulated over the years. There are especially two other projects that have been started, which are very similar to photonix (at least from my point of view).
One is https://github.com/hooram/ownphotos which is also implemented in Python. It has a few cool machine learning features. Especially the auto-generation of captions was impressive to me (although it generates funny results sometimes). However, that project does not seem to be actively maintained anymore. Maybe photonix can borough some ideas from ownphotos.
The other similar project I came across, is https://github.com/photoprism/photoprism. This project is written in Go and still looks actively maintained.
Do you agree with my impression that these projects and photonix basically have the same goal? I believe at this point it is not practical to merge one of these projects into another since they all have already developed quite far. However, it would be nice to see if these projects start to benefit from each other in the future. As an end-user, I would especially welcome, if tool-lockin is avoided as far as possible and for example photos with ratings can be migrated from one tool to another.
