Dissertation: The Role of the Myotubularin Pseudophosphatase MTMR13 in Myelination and Disease.
This work is embargoed because of the broken incentive structure in academic research. Much of my dissertation research is published open access in An In Vitro Model of Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease Type 4B2 Provides Insight Into the Roles of MTMR13 and MTMR2 in Schwann Cell Myelination.

Lead a group of 20 early career researchers to meet with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) with Dr. George Strawn, Board Director for the Policy and Global Affairs Division at the National Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Marcia McNutt, President of the National Academy of Sciences. We advocated for data sharing and open access, more support for early career researchers, voiced our concerns about diversity and inclusion in the sciences. Science Hack Day Portland Portland, OR October 7-8, 2016 📋 Organizer Secured funding, organized catering, materials, and support for speakers and participants with an interdisciplinary team. The event included a kickoff party, 24-hours of hackathon time in a supportive environment, and closing project demos. This event was free, open to the public, and featured free access to three 3-D printers, microcontrolers, hardware, and software expertise. Here are some of the outcomes Science Hack Day PDX 2016 facilitated: long term and cross-community collaborations; technology confidence and skill building through hands on experiences with code and hardware; the creation of new and collaborative learning communities, such as OHSU’s BioData Club; an active community of open science practitioners, which spans open source, open hardware, and open data enthusiasts. One attendee said, "without a doubt, my favorite hackathon event I’ve ever attended". Further details here.
