reverse_captcha

Simple reverse captcha solution that consist in create a hidden field that should be always empty. If you don't know reverse captcha aproach search on the internet.

Usage

The gem is only compatible with Rails 3.0 (if you need a Rails 2.+ version send a pull request). Add it to your Gemfile:

gem 'reverse_captcha'

After that you will be able to create a captcha attribute in your model (ActiveRecord only)

class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base
  captcha :nickname
end

Now in your view you should add a captcha field like below:

form_for @comment do |f|
  ...
  <%= f.captcha %>
end

And that's it. If the nickname attribute is filled Rails will fail to save with a validation error.

Note on Patches/Pull Requests

  • Fork the project.

  • Make your feature addition or bug fix.

  • Add tests for it. This is important so I don't break it in a future version unintentionally.

  • Commit, do not mess with rakefile, version, or history. (if you want to have your own version, that is fine but bump version in a commit by itself I can ignore when I pull)

  • Send me a pull request. Bonus points for topic branches.
