We can certainly ask contributors to add their material to the index, but until that becomes commonplace, if there are a couple people who'd be willing to double-check that the index.md nicely created by @jessevondoom matches reality, even just once a day, that'd be awesome.

Perhaps this could be automated. Travis could automatically build the index upon every merge. (Unfortunately, I don't personally have any experience in setting up Travis.)

I'm not done with this yet, but I wanted to screw around with Cake and writing the dumbest entity extractor i could muster. The result is this work in progress list of recipes by ingredient i have in my personal fork.

Right now it just assumes the first line of each recipe is the title. It could be pretty trivially adapted to spitting out a directory index. It however wouldn't be able to figure out which recipes are vegetarian unless noted somewhere in the recipe that the extractor could find, or until i make the entity extractor much much smarter.

I think #61 and @knowtheory in general are working on an automated system for generating an index, so I'm going to close this issue.
