Interim data for the Darwin Tree of Life Project

Darwin Tree of Life

⚠️ Warning: This repository is temporary and will soon be replaced by a dedicated data portal.

⚠️ Warning: Data is only available here until release to the ENA.

⚠️ Warning: Publications should only be based on data in the public archives (ENA, Genbank, DDBJ).

Introduction

The Darwin Tree of Life Project (DToL) aims to generate high quality genome assemblies of all 60,000 species of eukaryotic organisms in the Atlantic archipelago of Britain and Ireland to contribute towards providing reference genome sequences for all life. It is a collaboration between biodiversity, genomics and analysis partners that hopes to transform the way we do biology, conservation and biotechnology. The project is a collaboration of the Natural History Museum London, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, Marine Biological Association, Earlham Institute, University of Oxford and its Wytham Woods field station, University of Edinburgh, University of Cambridge, EMBL-EBI and others, led by the Wellcome Sanger Institute, UK.

About the data

Darwin Tree of Life Open Data Release Policy

As a step towards open and early release of Darwin Tree of Life data, we are making available raw data before submission to ENA and early-pass assemblies for use by the community. Please note that the data may not be final and correct and assemblies are from the earliest stages of analysis, have not been polished to remove assembly errors and have not been scaffolded to produce chromosomal molecules. They may contain contaminant genomes, symbionts and assembly errors. The final assemblies will differ in sequence and contiguity; these will be annotated and released to ENA in due course.
