On OS/2 this was supplied by a freeware library called 'P' written by Jyrki Salmi. So it may be sufficient to just turn XYZMODEM back on for OS/2 builds and supply a suitable version of of p.dll (the latest version was apparently distributed as p205.zip).

On Windows this was supplied by a windows port of the above library done by Columbia with a source license from Oy Online Solutions Ltd. Restoring XYZMODEM support on Windows will either require 'P' to be open-sourced by Jyrki/online.fi or a compatible replacement built (probably a lot of work).
