SSH not working on ATV 1st gen

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. launch putty/winscp
2. enter ip/hostname and user/password
3. Connect

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it's not connecting to appletv. Network error: connection refused

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
appletv 3.02. Using windows.

Please provide any additional information below.
XMBC is working on appletv. Ping to appletv.local or the ip address is working 
fine.

I have 2 x ATV1 & same issue with both after atv hack, instal xbmc & network 
error when i try to FTP with putty.   network error / connection refused
