FakeMail

FakeMail is a helper for faking email sending from ruby. It works at a global level, without modifying code or writing extensive tests.

FakeMail is loosely based on the same concept as chrisk’ wonderful FakeWeb gem. You register an email server and the responses it would give to attempts to send mail (sent ok, relay denied, etc) and then when you send mail to those servers, you get those replies. If you send to unregistered servers, mail is delivered normally.

Mail is obviously not like the web; instead of getting back a web page you get back a response object. But after a fakemail has been sent, FakeMail will let you review the sent messages (useful for verifying recipients, templating, etc).

Installation

sudo gem install dbrady-fakemail

Examples

FakeMail is VERY fluid right now. Once the usage is less like soup and more like jello we’ll start posting these.
