Python 3.9.0 final is due out in October. The first release candidate is out, and it's strongly recommended to test third-party libraries on it, to both make sure the library is ready for 3.9, and to help test 3.9 itself.

On the topic of releases, it's been a couple of years since olefile v0.46 came out. Perhaps it's soon time for a new release?

And maybe drop EOL Python 2.7 soon, either before or after the next release?

Thanks!

@hugovk: about Python 2 support, I don't plan to remove it right now, because I think quite a few people are still using it. Also some projects use olefile with PyPy, and unlike CPython it still supports python 2.x: https://doc.pypy.org/en/latest/faq.html#how-long-will-pypy-support-python2
But maybe in the coming months we can drop python 2.x support, and those who still need it can simply use old releases of olefile.
