Service Regions were built during the the VBA RO Pilot MVP. However, there were a number of issues that we deprioritized fixing in order to ship the core functionality sooner. Additionally, we focused on onboarding local editors and didn't engage the regional/national stakeholders needed to vet all the content for Service Regions

Critical functionality:

Content Gaps:

CAIA questions
  • Education benefits for family members and Education benefits for Veterans
    • Regional service descriptions both say “Check the status of your claim by calling a VA education representative at a Regional Processing Office.” Is this office the Regional Processing Office? Is the phone number directly below this the number they would call to check their claim? If so, suggest changing description to “Call us to check the status of your application for education benefits.”
  • Home loans
    • Same Q about regional service description as on the education benefits terms — if we’re presenting the phone number right there, we’d usually say something more like “Call us to check the status of your home loan COE.”
  • Veterans Pension
    • Regional service description says “you can submit your form by mailing it to this address” with no address — but as far as I know there’s only a single, national mailing address for all pension forms. Is this field supposed to offer different mailing addresses for different regional offices?

Nice to have fixes:

@davidmpickett Would this be considered launch blocking for the pilot or is it part of the national rollout?

That is a question for you and @mmiddaugh to decide. My recommendation would be national rollout as this functionality is not strictly necessary for local editors to add content and publish modernized pages.

For reference: conversation on slack about this not being a blocker for launching individual modernized RO pages.

FYI @Agile6MSkinner - I chatted with @mmiddaugh about this briefly in a 1on1 today. Main point of discussion was that while there are a couple engineering things to work out, the real hurdle to implementing these is getting the right set of national VBA stakeholders engaged in conversation about these specific content needs. She is going to start some conversations.
