In Q3, a Discovery initiative was conducted which surveyed VFS User sentiment and surfaced pain points for QA on VA.gov as a whole. (Links to the survey and results are included below this description block) In addition to the Q3 Discovery of QA on VA.gov, there is a need to understand the expectations of of Platform and VA stakeholders, and to document proposed approaches, and to validate proposed success metrics before research efforts and development efforts begin.
Tasks
Collect, synthesize, and incorporate stakeholder input for preview environment use cases
Generate documentation for each discovery topic
Define/validate success metrics
Collect baseline measurements of the defined success metrics
Define key characteristics of the preview environment solution
Create RFC documents based on discovery synthesis
Acceptance Criteria
All stakeholder input has been collected and synthesized (VFS teams, Platform SMEs, etc.)
All proposed solutions have been documented in one or more RFC(s) and made available for comments
All success metrics are validated, baselined, and ongoing measurements have been automated
The current user flow for the use of Review Instances has been documented
We have answers to the below key questions regarding our implementation
Will we be able to create publicly accessible ephemeral preview environments (AKA avoid the need for SOCKS)?
Will preview environments be able to integrate with authentication services?
Will preview environments integrate with the test data available in lower environments from external services?
Will preview environments be able to represent updates from multiple repositories?
A proposed MVP plan has been documented and vetted with our Product Owner and Platform Engineering Lead
