You changes are not backward compatible, right? Maybe it's ok.

I thought this is about SSH hardening. Permitting password login for root doesn't sound very hardened to me. There is a reason for this option being left out.

You're right, they are not. That's why I'll increment the major version when this PR is merged.

The default is still "no", so if you want to weaken your ssh configuration, you have to explicitly do so by setting this option to "yes".
