Getting Started

To get a local copy up and running follow these simple example steps.

Prerequisites

For you to be able to understant code, it will be nice if you have basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Installation

  1. Get the snippet for your app's Firebase config object https://console.firebase.google.com/
  2. Clone the repo
    git clone https://github.com/devxprite/realtime-chat-app.git
  3. Enter snippet in firebaseConfig.js like this:
    const firebaseConfig = {
         apiKey: process.env.apiKey,
         authDomain: process.env.authDomain,
         databaseURL: process.env.databaseURL,
         projectId: process.env.projectId,
         storageBucket: process.env.storageBucket,
         messagingSenderId: process.env.messagingSenderId,
         appId: process.env.appId
     };
    
     firebase.initializeApp(firebaseConfig);
