Certainly, all the old requests are already in my list and will be implemented eventually.

Cruiser now has a build-in download manager and can download and display offline points of interest.

So it will be easier to implement and display nearby points of interest (with distance) in navigation.

POI are collected and their distances calculated on the route from user location.

From my point of view, I would like to see roadside resting places that appear suddenly while driving, and you don't want to turn back to them. I mean Tag:tourism=picnic_site maybe too Tag:leisure=picnic_table 😎

Besides, I think I'd rather have these panels on the left side. Especially during follow mode (no navigation) this side of the screen is unused.

POI distance in navigation is accurate as it is based on the route followed.

POI distance in follow mode is the straight line length between GPS location and POI.
If we only want the distance then it can be on the side.
If we also want direction or name then it can be on the top.

Well, maybe so. Especially when there is a shortage of petrol in the city, because outside the city the stations are on the road anyway. Usually when looking for a gas station or ATM while on the road, I would add a via point. But this can completely spoil the previously planned route. The disadvantage of a horizontal panel is that only one point can be seen here (I think)... Hmm...

Btw: when riding a motorcycle I do not need any indication of gas stations. In 25 years I never had a problem, not even in the middle of Iceland, but there you are pointed by traffic signs to the gas station 200 km away. I also look for parking spaces myself and speed traps I accept fatefully.

Yes, it looked like a nice way to deal with "more things" on the screen than you'd usually want to see when navigating.

The recognition of multiple POI categories from multiple large area DBs for long routes is important to be efficient.
e.g. Germany has over 4.5 million points of interest!

Since this also applies to my case, I'm intrigued. Lately I've been noticing in many navigators a lack of symmetry in placing your horizontal location on the screen. Indeed long press is currently empty, we can add an action there.

A nearby POI or favorite can be on a different road away from the route.
It is not a rerouting and merge with the rest of unchanged (curvy) route.

It will cause a full route calculation. I am not sure that we want this.

As for the translation, "Stacja paliw" is correct. The proposed "Stacja benzynowa" is less official, but probably more often used in colloquial speech 🙂 So it's good anyway, so you can't change it.

Probably I have missed your question. Yes this is exactly what I mean, with a little question maybe "insert as new WP?" and 2 big YES and No confirmation buttons in order to exactly hit it while driving also with thick gloves. If only the recalculation of the complete route is possible, this would be a disadvantage, since Brouter offline calculates differently (I still use Kurviger for planning). If it was possible like leaving planned route and recalculation back to the route and just to the next WP or SP, then it is great, also for parking places or fuel stations or restaurants... so yes, merging the rest of the UNCHANGED route would just be PERFECT.

Another point: the translation for restaurants in the POI categories in german is "Lebensmittel", better would be "Restaurants". And supermarkets are translated with "Markt", Markt is in principle ok, but better would be "Einkaufen". The search result is supermarkets as well as bakeries. You can also shop in bakeries, but it would be more intuitive to make a separate category for bakeries, just a proposal, not a must.

It is the native Android dialog or we need to create a new custom dialog just for this.
Cancel is always available pressing anywhere on the screen or Android back button.

It can use a countdown, e.g. 3 seconds, after which "OK" will select itself. It's easier to touch anywhere outside the window to cancel it than to hit "OK".

Have tested this with different stored routes. Sometimes it works, but I also had sometime a crash, after recalculation, Cruiser is closed then and when I open it again, then it has the route till this insertion point, the rest of the route was gone. So the crash happens while recalculating. At the momen I have no time to provide more details.

A simple matter. In the distance setting, each position is named the same: Search distance from the route, only the icon is different. But when searching for settings, the icons are not visible, and all three settings look the same.

So maybe add what it concerns in parentheses (like you do sometimes)? Something like that:

• Search distance from the route (Points of interest)
• Search distance from the route (Speed ​​Cameras)

For me its better display all of them. If all of them are using just one panel, it could add the number of pois on the same panel.

I am very happy with this feature, It's a very valuable help when riding.

I was wondering.
As soon as you start navigating, does Cruiser know the distances of ALL searched POIs along the route? Or only a maximum of four (as many as panels). Because all POIs along the route are highlighted, not only the closest ones.

So if these all distance is known, is it possible to see the distance from it on the label after touching such a POI on map? Of course, I mean distant points that are not yet on the panel 🙂

This is because the position of nearby POI is fixed, so we can render all of them on map.

But their distance from user location is not fixed, it changes constantly as we are moving.
It's not the same as the distance / time in waypoint bubbles calculated from the fixed start.

Cruiser has been heavily optimized for battery performance.
It calculates the selected number of POI / favorites, not more! 🙂

If we want additional information, of course it can be introduced with extra functions.

It rarely happens that we need to know the distance of a gas station, located several dozen kilometers from us, with an accuracy of one kilometer, and this is the only purpose for which the discussed function could be useful 🙂

POI databases have been significantly improved, so offline search will be much faster with the next poi updates.

This affects all offline searches, nearby POI in navigation, search POI categories, etc.

(I see germany.poi is already updated)

To avoid confusion, the distance and direction should also be consistent with the map center. I think so.

Well, I think it is not useful. I am somewhere in a city, I am searching in the map zooming and shifting around and then I want to know how dar away the searc result is, from my current position and not the (arbitrary) map center.... Searching around the map Center is great, but the distance and direction should be from my current position...

Please note that this distance is in a straight line, so it is very approximate.

A good solution, known from other applications, is the current distance from map center to the current position. It's not always legible, so why not put this number in the blue, pulsating fields on the edge?

Obvious and probably well achievable.
Cruiser Current (Map centre search now using gps fake app).
Map centre search: Select a grill restaurant and I favourite it.
Distance from my home position.
Find favorite and see the distance and the direction.
Straight-line distance toward the favourite 1712 km.
Car route distance with GH online: 2366.4 km

I only changed the search to use the map center.
Direction / distance in lists use the GPS location.
