Dan,

I've got something funny going on. I'm trying out the theme on a staging server at http://danyork.me/kuuc/ and if you look at the left sidebar, you can see that I've got a menu duplicated twice. I have a menu of only four links:

  • Worship Services
  • Religious Education
  • Music Program
  • Social Action

but it appears there twice. In the menus section of the customizer I have this menu I created (called "Sidebar") set to the menu location of "Secondary menu in left sidebar". I've tried adding items to the menu. I've removed the menu. I've tried a bunch of other things and still I get that duplicate menu.

I'm currently using the latest 1.3.10 directly from WP.org. I did try deleting the theme and reinstalling it.

Any suggestions on what else I can try?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi, I am having the same problem and I'm struggling to fix it. When I look at the html using inspect element, I can see that the side menu items are there twice, both within the div class="sidebar-widget-area widget-area" id="secondary" role="complementary" , each with different classes and ids. I have tried using Simple CSS to set display to none for one of them but this doesn't have an effect. I've tried removing the location "secondary menu in left sidebar" for the menu from "Menu" editor but it still shows it; I've tried leaving it with the sidebar location but removing it from the Primary Sidebar widget editor and this throws up an error: ( ! ) Warning: sprintf(): Too few arguments in C:\wamp\www\mywordpresssite\wordpress-4.5.1\wordpress\wp-includes\widgets.php on line 1051

I am a bit stuck and would appreciate any advice on how to fix this.
Many thanks,
Suzanne

Just to confirm, you don't have a menu widget in your widget area, right? The sidebar menu is added by the theme above whatever widgets you put in the sidebar. You don't need to add a menu widget. If you do have a menu widget in the widget area, try deleting it - your menu should still be there. If you want more control over where it appears, I recommend creating an empty menu and setting that as your sidebar menu. Then you can add a menu widget where you want it to appear.

Hi Dan, thank you for getting back to me. Adding a blank menu has solved it - for some reason, if I set the menu to appear in the sidebar but didn't add the menu widget, I either got an error message or no menu appeared. Thank you for helping me :)
