Blizzard discontinued Diablo almost 10 years ago because it began having compatibility problems on newer systems. That was 10 years ago. Fast forward and now the game hardly runs at all on modern hardware. People have to go to greats lengths to get the game running correctly. Some even resort to Virtual Machines. Devilution is providing a documention of the original design in whole, so that users may achieve compatibility with the software they so legally paid for.
Blizzard already knows about it, or it would've been shut down already. They sent me an email almost a week after the project was put online and said they thought it was impressive and they needed people with that kind of dedication. They also mentioned that it caught the interest of the Diablo team. |
Blizzard never discontinued Diablo, that is a lie. Their servers are still running even today. |
