Welcome to the critical-workshops wiki!

We're planning to prepare a number of workshops on different topics, related to the Critical-Zones exhibition.

Environmental sensors

are the first topic. Two types of sensors will be used, a sensor which measures the total volatile organic compounds (tvoc, this is also the workshop label in this Wiki) in the room air and a barometric pressure and temperature sensor (baro).

During the workshop, we will only use one parameter from each of the sensors

  • CO2 from tvoc
  • Temperature from baro

You can extend the set of measurements on your own, later on.

The CO2 value is not actually measured by the tvoc but derived from the other values it acquires, thus it is also called eCO2 (estimated CO2). True CO2 measuring sensors are much more expensive due to the more complication internal setup (laser diodes etc) required for the NDIR procedure.

The workshop series started on March 12, 2021, but please check the ZKM calendar for exact date and registration.

Instructions and other details are available in this Wiki at this page.
