We created a prototype validator that as well as highlighting errors in a Brownfield site register would attempt to fix some of the common issues. Such as:

  • Incorrect data formats
  • Using the wrong CoordinateReferenceSystem for the provided geo points

However, although potentially useful, we think it could be unsustainable.

A better approach might be to improve the data at the point it is created by improving data standards that exist or are being created, and improving the capabilities of the users who are creating the data
