The Softroot Item (first entry of the navigation which is set as "Home") has special attributes and behaviours.

For example when setting off "in Menu" to the softroot, all sub children still will be shown within render_menu. All other menu entries would hide those elements.

There might be other oddities which I'm not aware off and might be documented. This can cause some question marks.
