Some mailing lists such as 294fdff8e37848f8512be899c.223389.list-id.mcsv.net have a “middle part”, here 223389, that changes. However, there is no usable part for a friendly name, so mu4e-mailing-list-patterns is useless. A more useful mu4e-mailing-list-patterns would be one that takes couples, (REGEX . SHORTNAME) where SHORTNAME can use \1,...

Don't know how often other people encounter this. I'm afraid it may become more common with more people using mailchip services.
