QuickFormatter is a Java command-line tool that reads delimited format text files (e.g. CSV) and formats it using a template. Uses Apache Velocity as the template engine.
JOT – JIRA Output Tool – is a command-line Ruby script for retrieving information about issues on a JIRA server and displaying it in a specified format. The output format is defined by ERB templates. This project started as the JIRAFetch project (see below) but got rewritten in Ruby when I discovered I needed to use the JIRA SOAP interface instead of RPC. This also meant that I could use ERB as the template language as well which turned out to be much more useful.
JIRAFetch is a Java command-line tool which preceded JOT and is essentially abandoned. It used RPC to talk to a JIRA instance which turned out to not as useful as the SOAP interface. I had issues trying to implement a SOAP client at the time and was unable to find a template language which was as flexible as was needed. These problems led to me implementing it with Ruby and ERB instead. I actually gave a short presentation on the development of this app and the issues I had – the repository tags are each for a specific point of development for the presentation. I keep this project around because it has lots of interesting code that I may want to refer back to one day.
This is a repo where I keep assorted scripts I have written for different things.
