This PR demonstrates how to implement a dropdown menu in the microsite documentation.
It is not meant to be merged, but be a permanent draft that shows through its commits, what needs to be done to add a dropdown to the default setup. The netlify preview will verify that the changes still work.
An accompanying tutorial that explains the changes in detail is currently in rewiew (#1319).
In order to stay current this PR should be regularly rebased on
