Keep track of which version is deployed

It would be good to make it clear whether a particular branch is deployed somewhere irrespective of the git based workflow adopted (git flow or github flow for instance). Maybe through a badge on github/gitlab but also from the deployed site (linking back to a branch or tag for instance).
