First I thought the private var was not accessible and it would raise an exception. But in the metadatafactory the property is set to accessible.

If I create the PersistentCollection with an empty Collection (by removing prop->getValue(), my tests are all ok. I have been debugging for a while now, and because of the recursion I cannot see where it goes wrong.
