* IMPORTANT: Files edited with this version should not be modified from a previous one:
The KeyNote format version has changed from 2.0 to 2.1 (can be seen right at the beginning of the file. Ex: #!GFKNT 2.1 )
In this way KeyNote will warn if a file edited with this version 1.9.3 (or later) is opened from a previous one.
- KeyNote will allow its opening by giving a warning and recommending opening the file in read-only mode
- The new version 1.9.3 makes use of a new field to identify each note (node): GID
This new field is unique at the file level and not only within each folder, as used until now.
This will make it easier to implement certain improvements. At the moment it makes it possible to define a new internal link format,
supported by the new identifier, which is not affected by the movement, to another folder, of the note to which it points.
- Starting with version 1.9.3, each new note is associated with a GID, but no new ID is associated (kept at 0), which avoids
the need to record ID values in the .knt file which are not required. Existing IDs are kept because they may be in use from
hyperlinks or mirrored notes.
- If a file created from a previous version is opened from version 1.9.3, KeyNote automatically calculates a GID for all existing
nodes, going through the different folders and notes within them. New notes created will receive new GIDs, consecutive to the
last ones assigned, regardless of which folder they were created in.
- If this file, saved from 1.9.3, is opened and modified from a previous version, as it does not recognize the new GIDs, it will be
saved without registering the GIDs in the .knt file. And so:
- If the file, already modified from the previous version, is opened again with the current version, the GIDs will be recalculated,
and the existence of new notes may cause the GIDs created the first time to not match those now generated. This will cause the
new created links (and mirror nodes) to stop working.
- If all old links were converted (with the -clnks option) to the new format, all of them will be affected.
- If this error has been made you should go back to a previous backup. And you could then add the changes added later, now correctly.
=> It is always important to KEEP BACKUPS, but especially in situations like this.

* Scratchpad is now a normal full editor, equivalent to notes editor:
- It is possible to use styles, insert special characters, apply formatting, insert images(*), etc.
- Can be used as a ClipCap Capture destination (or as a source, if another folder is chosen as the destination)
(The activated ClipCap icon will be activated regardless of whether you are in the Scratchpad editor or other folders
to facilitate deactivation without first having to focus on Scratchpad)
- It is possible to run macros on this editor, as well as plugins
- Templates, styles and fonts can also be inserted using shortcut keys
- It is possible to drag files, including images, even if no KNT file is open
- It is possible to execute the Restore Image[s] Proportions action on any image (as was previously possible
even in images on RTF virtual nodes or EmbeddedRTF image storage format files)
(*) Images are currently managed as EmbeddedRTF (as it is done with RTF virtual nodes)

* The format and style toolbars, as well as the menu options related to the format now adjust to the selected editor,
whether this is one corresponding to a note (in a folder) or the Scratchpad editor, taking into account whether the
content supports RTF or just plain text, or if the content is read-only.
- In the case of placing the focus on the tree, the button panel and other format elements also adapt to the possibilities
of the tree panel.

* Unregistered images can also be displayed in internal Image Viewer
Images without an associated ID, in Scratchpad or in a note that doesn't support registered images,
like virtual RTF nodes or notes in a EmbeddedRTF image storage format file, can now be displayed using
the Image Viewer (double clicking the image)

* Scratchpad: Improvements in management of images (as a special editor, used from multiple files)
Scratchpad (Sp) allows managing registered images, that is, with assigned IDs (through hidden tags):
This makes it possible to copy images from file notes to Sp ensuring that they are identified as exactly the same
image. In this way, when copying those images thus identified to notes in the same file, they are always treated
as new instances and not like new images.
- Registered images (with ID) can be copied onto the Sp and these IDs will be remembered as long as the KNT file is still open
- The insertion of new images in Sp, not existing in the KNT file, does not register them in the file (therefore it does not
"consume" IDs in the file).
- When an image that does not exist in the KNT file is pasted from Sp, is registered in the file and automatically and
at the same moment is identified with the same ID in Sp.
- When the KNT file is closed, the hidden marks in Sp are eliminated, so all its images remain unidentified
- When opening a KNT file, the application identifies images in SP but without registering any, only labeling the existing ones
with their corresponding ID
- Saving the KNT file acts as if you had then closed and reopened the KNT file:
The hidden marks in Sp are eliminated and the images are reconsidered again, thus discarding the IDs of those that could have
been deleted in the KNT file.
In this way the images included in Sp can be pasted into different KNT files, as new instances or new images, as appropriate.
It should be taken into account that some Sp images previously copied from a KNT file may not be recognized as the same image
(the same ID), since the RichEdit control sometimes makes certain modifications to the data of some images, eliminating possible
metadata (for example). This results in the content of the image varying with respect to that recorded in the KNT file and
identifiable through the calculated CRC32)

* Added new identification to each note (node), "GID", unique in the entire file
The previous identification, "ID", will be maintained and saved on the .KNT file only for
the already existing notes [*]. New notes (nodes) will use the new global identifier (GID)
Example in .knt:

* The new mirror nodes created will be registered in .knt as follows:

(KNT Links) can be converted to the new format there may be notes referenced with the previous format
from external files.

to continue working even if the note is moved to another folder.

If the target of an internal Knt link is included in one of the notes of the merged folders, then it is
adapted to use the new GID associated of the target note.
Also, old format links in merged folders are converted to the new format, based on GIDs, when possible.

Links in RTF notes with the old format based on note IDs are converted to the new format based on note GIDs
(moving a note to another folder does not break any KNT link based on the new format)

The way in which the width of the tree is restored when the focus is passed from it to the RTF editor by clicking
with the mouse has been modified.
Depending on the speed of the press, text could be selected in an unwanted way. Also, the partial solution that
sought to avoid this was causing the selection made by following a bookmark (with selection) or a Find All result
to not show the target text selected.

* Fixed: Regression in exporting nodes with non ANSI characters to plain text
The commit 'New option, "Show hidden flags and IDs", when exporting to plain text' introduced a bug where
exporting to plain text with Unicode stopped working

Images were searched in a path relative to the current file, not to the merged file.
* Fixed: Toggling word wrap in plain text notes lost font formatting

It did work fine when converting storage or making other changes, once the file was created
* Fixed: ClipCap, with "Ignore clips from KeyNote" not activated:
When copying from a folder with a different one selected as the destination, the content of the note
from which it was copied was deleted (just on executing Copy)
* Fixed: Macro 'xxx' not found [Reload Resource panel data when displaying]
If the "Reload resource panel data on screen" option was selected, when displaying the resource panel and selecting a tab
other than Macro, the macro list was cleared and therefore the macro execution was seen affected.
This option now allows you to reload the list of items for the selected tab in the resources panel from disk, but without
keeping them cleared.

In order to make the images visible in the editor, in RTF, the formats currently available in the RichEdit control that can
be used are: \wmetafile8, \emfblip, \pngblip or \jpegblip
When inserting the image programmatically, the format that KeyNote NF will used depends on this option:
- ifWmetafile8 [0]
All images will be embedded in RTF with the format \wmetafile8. It will be the only option offered on systems with an older
version of RichEdit (<= 4 ).
- ifAccordingImage [1]
The application will use jpegblip for JPG images, emfblip for images that come from EMF files, wmetafile8 for those that come
from WMF files, and pngblip for the rest: PNG, GIF, TIF, BMP and ICO.

ifAccordingImage allows to use a more optimum formats and the size of images will be greatly reduced, and it is the default value in KeyNote.

* MergeFolders - Did not respect plain text property. It always treated them as full RTF
* Fixed: Position of caret now only consider visible characters
CaretPos returns the location of the cursor on the line Y and position X, counting both visible and hidden characters.
Hidden are mainly those corresponding to hyperlinks (HYPERLINK "<URL>"), although there may also be some hidden
characters used by KeyNote to identify images or set bookmarks for the location of KNT Links.
The way RichEdit manages selection of hyperlinks does not make it easy to obtain the visible number of characters
from the left of current line to current position.
KeyNote now calculates the visible value, optimizing the way it is done so to avoid any slight flickering that
could be noticeable in certain parts of the editor.

the node text color or its highlight through the corresponding options of the format menu or their shortcuts:
Text color (Ctrl+R), Highlight (Ctrl+H), No highlight (Ctrl+Shift+H)
* Internal format of KNT Links is now displayed with the path, in URL form
* The URL of KNT links pointing to invalid locations can now be displayed in URL form
* Some improvements related to the display of current zoom:
- In the editors (notes or Sp) there is an internal distinction between target zoom, set at the beginning according to the
general configuration or through the combo, and current zoom, which can be changed using Ctrl+Mouse wheel.
- Activating an editor now shows its current zoom
- When switching between the nodes of a folder the target zoom is restored, meanwhile the current zoom is taken into account
and respected (e.g. when hiding/showing images or resizing them)
* When resizing images the current cursor position is now respected
* When changing the default font of the editor (F4), now it is immediately reflected in the active editor that is displaying the
content of virtual plain text type nodes included in non-plain text folders.
* Dragging images into RTF virtual nodes is allowed
* 'Merge folders' option is offered when dragging KNT files onto read-only folders
* Clarified names for "Add Tree Node" actions, in Main Menu (Tree) and TV context menu
Changed the order and the captions:
"Add Above" (Instead of "Insert node")

"Add Below" (Instead of "Add sibling")

* On opening the file, set tree horizontal scroll bar to the left border
When the name of any of the nodes is longer than the width of the tree panel, the horizontal scroll bar is displayed.
By default, if the selected note in the tree also has a longer node name, the horizontal scroll bar was set automatically
to the right edge, causing the node hierarchy structure to not be clearly displayed.
* In relation to the movement of nodes (and subtrees):
Once the nodes have been copied to the destination folder (having previously confirmed that you want
to move the nodes) you will no longer be asked if you want to delete the nodes in the source folder.

* Fixed: Alternate tray icon stuck after using web clip
When the "Use alternate tray icon" option was enabled in the Clipboard capture settings,
using the Web Clip function kept the alternate (orange) icon stuck in the title and tray bar.
