Transfering the list of themes to a new installation #3
Comments
What I do is use Firefox Sync (about:preferences#sync) and sync addons. This should get all your themes, and Thematic too... Let me know if this helps or not. |
No, it didn't work, but I don't know whether I did it correectly.
The "sending" computer (the one with my thematic settings) runs Windows. The receiving side (where I want to have a compy of the setting) runs MacOS.
First, I clicked on the Windows-FF on "Synchronize now", to upload my settings.
Then, on the receiver, I added "Thematic" to Firefix. Strangely, the developer listed for the MacOS version of Thematic was not you, but a developer with user name "noexcept".
Then I executed on MacOS Firefox "Synchronize now", to download the settings.
However, no Thematic menu entry was visible on the FF menu bar.
When I opened the Thematic add on settings on MacOS, there was also no option for defining an interval for the rotation.
What did I do wrong?
UPDATE: I just noticed that there are two addons of the same name (Thematic), which are otherwise unrelated. How can I pick the "correct" one on the Mac?

Great question. Several ways I think. Go directly to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/personaswitcher/ I know it says personaswitcher at the end - the name is left over from when there were personas instead of themes. For me, FF sync does the work of putting extensions (here Thematic, and all my themes) on each machine I set up sync for. I do have to have a Firefox account to make this work. Here are two screenshots of what I see. Let me know if this helps at all or not. Thanks! |
I don't understand what I need to do on the Mac: Should I install an addon called "Persona Switcher"? Sorry for my ignorance, but if you could describe a step-by-step guide, it would be helpful. The Persona list is now on Windows, and I want to import them to the Mac. Since your "Thematic" is not available on the Mac, do I need "Persona Switcher" instead? |
When setting up Firefox on a new computer, how can I export the list of themes currently loaded into Thematic transfer to the new installation?
