Upcoming Releases

  1. TauDEM 5.3 to support GDAL library (October 2015).
  2. TauDEM 5.3.1 to support OGR library (November 2015).
  3. Enhancements to facilitate use in Model My Watershed (Early 2016).
  4. CyberGIS/HydroShare service based deployment (Mid 2016).

Enhancements and features under development

  1. Change IO to use GDAL.
  2. Change Geographic Feature IO to use OGR as part of GDAL (to enhance vector support to include spatial reference information and possibly other OGR supported vector formats beyond shapefiles).
  3. Rapid watershed delineation support using preprocessed subwatersheds.
  4. CyberGIS deployment to support service based use from CyberGIS and HydroShare.

Suggested enhancements and features for future consideration

  1. Improving the efficiency of the share function that swaps rows. Yan Liu has identified an inefficiency in this that needs improving.
  2. Improving the efficiency of some of the functions. Streamnet. D8flowdir, Dinfflowdir are slow functions that need work.
  3. Changing partitioning to use tiles rather than stripes. This would reduce the quantity of data to be exchanged across borders
