Welcome to the Tedium wiki!

This page serves as a sort of FAQ:

Q. How do I setup a network based destination?

A. Click the + -> Add Destination and type in the afp URL of the disk like so:

afp://username:password@computername/share name

Your password will be stored away in your keychain and will not show up in Tedium's interface

Q. Tedium asks for permission to my Keychain, why?

A. When you add an afp destination into Tedium, Tedium stores the password into your Keychain to keep it safe. Because the app isn't signed by Apple Keychain will ask each time Tedium is updated if you want to allow it to access your Keychain. Click 'Always allow' and Tedium will be able to access your Keychain without issue.

Q. What does Tedium access in my Keychain?

A. Tedium is hardcoded to look for entires called Tedium of type Time Machine Password. You can open your Keychain and search for Tedium to see what entries Tedium has added. Keychain ONLY allows Tedium to access these records and only if you allow it to.

Q. When I click "Current Drive" it fails, why?

A. Two reasons for this. One, if it is a locally attached disk (USB/Firewire/Thunderbolt) but isn't actually connected then Tedium may fail. Also, if have an afp share already configured Tedium won't be able to properly ask the system for the full connection parameters. In this case you'll need to manually configure the AFP destination.
