We need a new post box as our mail man keeps reminding us that the post box we inherited with the house is no longer regulation size.

Last week @nelsonic saw this one in LM:

I've been researching a few post boxes this week and:

• Have found nothing of a comparable size - the biggest ones I found were slightly smaller than this, usually not as tall
• Have found nothing of a decent size at a comparable price - all the big mailboxes I found were considerably over €100
• Have found nothing with the extra security this one offers

In Conclusion

@nelsonic Definitely the LM one you saw is the best post box. Who'd have thought it would be so hard to get decent sized post boxes?!

@iteles as noted last weekend when I went to Leroy they had one of the MALMÖ Post Boxes in stock because a customer had ordered it for collection and the section manager ordered an extra one to see if it would sell ...

I took a photo of the postbox while at Leroy and noted that the model is actually "BG58000":

It's made from powder coated galvanised steel so looks durable and weather proof.
The design is good for small parcels and has a decent security.
This product photo has the best illustration of how it works:

Maximum parcel size: 28 x 16 x 21 cm ... basically small boxes like books.
An A4 envelope will fit diagonally.

Ultimately we need to decide if it's worth spend the money to have a "small parcels" delivered without having to answer the door. We would still need to answer the door for larger ones.

Went past Leroy this evening to return/replace a faulty heater 🔥
and the MALMÖ Post/Parcel Box was still there so I got it: 💸

If you decide you don't like it after viewing it in-person, I'm happy to return it. 💭

Might spray paint it a different colour at some point but a post box is a post box is a post box 🤷🏻‍♀️

Black is nice because it's discrete. But I agree, it's a bit "boring". We can get Alex to decorate (finger paint) it. 😜

@iteles this cannot be simply surface mounted (by law) it has to be accessible from the street.
To achieve that, we have to either cut into the wall or the gate.
LMK when you have time to discuss it in-situ outside. 👍
