I'm not familiar with Rust/Cargo at all, so maybe this is a dumb question, but is it not possible to use the Cargo easyblock for this package?

@bedroge it probably is. I'm in a similar position, and in fact have borrowed this from Simon's repo of as yet unsubmitted ECs anyway...
