Building just update site using Tycho #925

Hi all. I'm searching for a way to upgrade the Apache UIMA Eclipse Update Site module from using an Ant script to using Tycho for building an update site. The idea is that only this module uses Tycho whereas the rest of the build remains unchanged.

I have tried setting the packaging to eclipse-repository.

The plugin is included with extensions enabled as well:

The module is supposed to build an update site for two features which are residing in separate Maven modules that are not using Tycho. I added them as dependencies:

There is also a category.xml file in the directory.

But when I try to run a build now, even before the reactor gets fully scanned and printed, Tycho already seems to kick in trying to resolve stuff:

Why is Tycho kicking in immediately even and not letting the reactor build even reach the module in which it is declared?

You need to configure the target platform to enable pomDependencies=consider

If you build the feature yourself you need to attach the p2 metadata itself:

Mainly because we do have a working single-reactor Maven POM-first build and I want to do a controlled descend down the rabbit hole by only switching those parts of the build to Tycho which are not well supported by the BND ecosystem.

I am also trying now to switch features over to Tycho - with some success. We have two features. I was able to switch one over yesterday and then also saw the update site starting to get some content. But instead of only the UIMA artifacts, it also started including SLF4J and other transitive references which by chance are OSGI bundles. I guess I'll have to remove the "allDependencies" again for that to work as desired. I am now trying to add the second feature as well, but that still provides some resistance. When I know more, I'll post.

You can mix tycho and BND in the same reactor now see https://github.com/eclipse/tycho/blob/master/RELEASE_NOTES.md#mixed-reactor-build-support I would just start by converting the features, if they are build successful by tycho you should get no problem with the update site.

Ok, so after removing the allDependencies setting again, the resulting update site looks reasonable:
