Pister hack

Atis Elsts edited this page Oct 1, 2020 · 1 revision

The Pister hack model is the default propagation model used in the OpenWSN 6tisch simulator. The "hack" in the name referers to the property of the model is used to tune the RSSI levels to better match empirical results: namely, the RSSI is randomly selected to be between the value predicted by the Friis model and to a value 40 dB (PISTER_HACK_LOWER_SHIFT) below the Friis model.

Configuration parameters

  • PISTER_HACK_LOWER_SHIFT - How much to shift the RSSI lower bound downward from the theoretical prediction, in dB. A non-negative number, default: 40.
  • TX_POWER_DBM - Transmission power in dBm. A number, default: 0.
