This set of structs and functions was adapted from the Go language text/template

Slightly modified by John Jacobsen to work with a user-supplied set of lexemes and state functions, and to work as a stand-alone package that can be useful for a variety of custom lexers.
A simple example can be seen in the unit test
file.
