Metricbeat 7.5.1 with kibana-xpack enabled , fails to start if Kibana is unavailable upon start #15258

  • Steps to Reproduce:
    Follow documentation to enable kibana-xpack.yml module in metricbeat
    configure kibana-xpack.yml to point at local kibana instance , with credentials
    stop kibana
    start metricbeat
    check status of metricbeat , it is failed
    try launch metricbeat manually , attached error screenshot

    now start kibana
    start metricbeat
    verify all is ok

I can confirm this behavior locally. I believe this is a bug as we should allow Metricbeat to be running independently of Kibana's lifecycle. I'm working on a fix now.

I have since I created this issue also verified the same problem occurs with the logstash-xpack nodule.

Thanks @kkh-security-distractions. I just put up the fix for the kibana-xpack module. I will work on a similar fix for the logstash-xpack module as well.
