Because the UI requires a data view before moving into the wizard it will know if a date field has been specified. So when that is available the date picker UI could be shown and default to something like Discover or other UIs do (e.g. last 15 minutes, last 7 days). That could be applied to all transform wizard queries. When creating the transform there could be a toggle wether to apply that to the actual config or not. Once date picker / full time range button / frozen option are all added reassess date picker design on very wide screens.
Update: leave date picker as full width for 8.7 as this is consistent with the other form controls (Group by field, aggregations)
