Now that version information is not included in the README, the only places that require changes when bumping the version in Kibana should be in files that can be parsed programmatically (i.e. json files). We should have a script that you can run to make the necessary changes to bump version.

@tylersmalley and I just chatted about this (because of a recent error in the process).
We like the idea of a "version_bump" script which requires a parameter of "major" or "minor" or "patch".
I don't know if the script might be able to update the color on the old github version label and create the new label or not. There could be cases where the new label has already been created.
It could also tag the release, but I think some other script already does that?
