Edit documents from within Discover #36556

The ability to quickly edit data would be useful for our analytics use case, as well often test out new datasets, pipelines, and transformations. We are currently using Jupyter utility to query, visualize (in pandas), and overwrite data when necessary and it would be great to be able to do this natively in Kibana. |
Would be very useful to have Create, Update and Delete functions for a single document in the EUI Datagrid - that would allow it to show up in multiple places (discover & Lens). Eventually, multi select/delete/update would be useful too. |
Data cleanup is one use-case. Another is editing indices used for data enrichment. It'd be an experience similar to Logstash translate plugin where dictionary file can be refreshed every few minutes. |

Closing this because it's not planned to be resolved in the foreseeable future. It will be tracked in our Icebox and will be re-opened if our priorities change. Feel free to re-open if you think it should be melted sooner. |
Sometimes, your data is just not clean and sometimes, only a few documents need to be updated. I come across this use case every once in awhile. An admin sees a document within Discover and would like to update the document directly. I've seen custom plugins built specifically for this functionality. While there are no immediate plans to add this functionality to Kibana, I'd like to gauge the communities interest.
If you're open to it, we'd love to hear your use case in more detail.
