Backport PR #13922 to 8.2 branch, original message:
Release notes
Starting from Logstash 8.0, all supported Operating Systems use SystemD as the init system. As such, we are dropping Sys-V init scripts from .DEB and .RPM packages.
What does this PR do?
This PR drops the installation of the sys-v init.d scripts and drops the testing of Logstash in oel-6. This were left overs of dropping support for CentOS-6.
This aligns with other products, such as Elasticsearch, which no longer ship sys-v init scripts.
Why is it important/What is the impact to the user?
Users will now solely rely on systemd to run its services when installed from Debian/RPM packages (or the archive). This aligns with the supported Operating Systems, which are all using systemd as the init system.
