Bram does not have an MXID shown next to the display name

Seems like that room isn't properly stored in m.direct so isn't properly categorised as a DM with a user so does not have an MXID to show

Inspecting m.direct with devtools, the room appears there with the correct mxid as key. Based on the room ID, the DM was created by the other participant, from E android (and likely using QR invites) afaik, however I don't have the same issue with other DMs that were created at nearly the same time. The DM also appears under People in the room list.

Simon: is the actual problem that it's not in m.direct (which contraty to above assumption it is), or that MXID isn't displayed regardless of m.direct?

After checking this, I've tried /converttodm which did nothing.
