The audio indicator already notifies on usage of microphones. Is there something more specific you're looking for?

Hi Cassidy, since the indicator was not published in Hera, I stuck to README description and screenshot (https://github.com/elementary/wingpanel-indicator-privacy#wingpanel-privacy-indicator and searched the issue tracker. I also let GitHub search the repo code for keywords like microphone, audio, etc. Since I didn't find anything, I finally assumed that so far only location services and camera are supported.

https://github.com/elementary/wingpanel-indicator-privacy/tree/master/src/Backends contains a CameraBackend.vala and a LocationBackend.vala but no MicrophoneBackend.vala. So where is this functionality already implemented?

This feature has been shipping since Juno in wingpanel-indicator-sound, as it is related to the contents of that indicator, and that indicator already has the ability to mute the mic or jump into sound settings. In general, the privacy indicator makes sense when there isn't already a better, more natural place for these tattle-tales to show up.
