To access the side-by-side editor on http://elm-lang.org click the "View Page Source" banner which resides on the top-right corner the of the page. To manually do this the url is elm-lang.org/edit/x where x is a .elm file on the server. If you are interested, I believe the source to the editor is located here.

Hopefully this answers your question. Also, I think questions about the elm website should be directed to the elm-lang.org repository, but I could be wrong.

For people still finding this on Google, the editor is now found at http://elm-lang.org/try and has been greatly improved.
