While pondering issue elves/elvish#1216 I downloaded https://dl.elv.sh/darwin-amd64/elvish-HEAD.tar.gz and was surprised that ./elvish -buildinfo reported Version: HEAD. That's not helpful since we don't really know what version is being run.

This is problematic when someone claims to be running the latest version they downloaded from elv.sh and they report that ./elvish -buildinfo outputs Version: HEAD. We have no idea what version they are actually running.
