Excuse me,
Will the running of the MiBench test necessarily require an operating system?

Note that this is just a mirror of the official project:

http://vhosts.eecs.umich.edu/mibench//index.html

However you do not necessarily need an operating system. You can run on a bare metal system via GDB with remote I/O handling for example.
