Sponsorship and Finance Updates

Just to try it out, I setup endoflife.date's profile on Open Collective and GitHub sponsors (pending approval). I wanted to see if we could raise some funds to get Netlify Analytics ($9/month). GitHub Sponsorship is configured against Open Collective to ensure transparency.

This is just an experiment. We could perhaps add a line in the README/footer as well?

If any contributors would like their profiles to show up on either profile page, please let me know.

Finally got around to creating a FUNDING.yml file. Looks decent:

Current expenses are $9/month for Netlify Analytics, and $6/year for domain costs (opencollective doesn't let me add expenses till we actually get some sponsors 😂)

We roughly get $30 USD in sponsorship every month. Our expenses aren't that high (Our Domain is prepaid for the next 10 years), so I've decided to use our sponsorship money to fund our dependencies.

Set up a $5/month contribution towards SimpleIcons for now: https://opencollective.com/simple-icons.

Other suggestions are: Repology, Jekyll, JustTheDocs. I'd prefer projects on OpenCollective, since it's much easier to setup.

I think a contribution to Wikipedia would be great. The logo was found there, we got some product description / release information there.

maybe we should invest that leftover to a sql server/service which i believe our project start to need a bit more [ especially
if we want to improve/enable more powerful systems like fuzzy searchs , some more advenced architecture ,
to keep all old version data and have ability to flitre them based incomming api requests , .... ]

Couldn't find Wikipedia at OpenCollective, will do a one-time donation.

SQL: I've been doing some work around the recent trend of using SQLite on the edge. (https://datasette.io, https://developers.cloudflare.com/d1/, https://fly.io/docs/rails/advanced-guides/sqlite3/ etc), and would lean towards such a setup - minimal costs and overhead.

We can already write code using https://www.netlify.com/products/functions/ today, which can read our JSON API local files to generate relevant responses.

Probably first step should be to publish our dataset in SQLite format on every build, then we can easily use that to build fancier APIs and other use-cases on top.

Our current cashflow is too low for this, but I'd like to have maintainers and contributors withdraw expenses to support development.
